Finance Ministry to revise excise taxes

BELGRADE -- Finance Minister Diana Dragutinović says her ministry is considering a revision of excise taxes on fuel derivatives, but that the change would not be "drastic".

If the excise tax on gasoline is reduced, those on diesel fuel will be augmented, Dragutinović explained for Tanjug. The minister also pointed out that overall tax and pension reform will be discussed during the forthcoming International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation's visit. The bill on pension reform, pension indexations and fiscal responsibility, which will determine budgetary expenditure, budgetary deficit and Serbian indebtedness up to 2015 is already finished, said Dragutinović. A possible salary and pension increase in 2010 will be also discussed in the talks. She stressed that one of possible options is to give short term bonus incentives if the country's economic situation is more favorable than planned. Source: Tanjug
