Tadić calls on Norwegian companies to invest

He said that custom-free exports to a market of 800 million people are possible from Serbia. Norwegian investors are welcome in Serbia, as are all Norwegian citizens, Tadić said at a Serbo-Norwegian business forum Oslo. He reminded that Serbia has a signed agreement for free trade with member-states of the CEFTA agreement, Russia, Belarus and Turkey, and a signed Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union. He said that this enables custom-free exports to a market of 800 million people, under the condition that 51 percent of the product is made in Serbia. The president Norwegian business people and officials that Serbia is preparing a detailed strategy for development over the next ten years. Tadić said that the plan will include large investments in the field of infrastructure, especially Corridor 10. He said that economic cooperation between Norway and Serbia gained significance rapidly in late July 2006, when Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor bought the majority shares of Serbian Mobi 63 cell phone network for EUR 1.513bn. This made Telenor the largest foreign investor in the Serbian economy. Tadić is on a two-day official visit to Norway, where he yesterday met with the country's king, Harald V.
