EC trainees bring “Real Balkan Oasis” to Brussels

[new-europe.info - English language] The Bosnian war orphans and children in Kosovo enclaves would get a humanitarian relief of 3000 Euro each, a welcome addition to the meagre support being given to them according to the organisers of an event early this month.

The trainees from the European Commission got together on June 2 to bring a real Balkan colour to an event held to contribute the proceeds to those children. The “Real Balkan Oasis,” held at the Brussels’ K_nal club, offered  Balkanika Gourmanika food & traditional drinks; Balkan traditional dance from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece, and traditional music intermezzo, Turkey, but the highlight of the show was “Tesla” fashion show by Mona, Serbia where fashion model Borka Tomic excelled. Tomic, of the Institute of Serbia and Montenegro, along with others, also provided logistic support to the event and DJ Steven Stumpf did need not leave any Balkan beats untouched. Speaking later to the RTS National TV, the attending journalists urged the Balkan states to bring more of Balkan culture to Europe and beyond for better awareness of the region.
